Yellow Fever Vaccine

A single dose helps protect against yellow fever and is required for entry to many countries in Africa and South America. Your certificate is issued the same day.

What is yellow fever?

Yellow fever is a serious viral infection spread by mosquito bites in parts of sub-Saharan Africa and tropical South America. It can cause fever, jaundice and, in severe cases, life-threatening illness. A single vaccination provides long-lasting protection for most travellers.

Who needs this vaccine?

  • Travellers to countries where yellow fever is present
  • Anyone entering a country that requires a certificate for entry
  • Travellers passing through (transiting) certain countries

Many countries ask to see a valid certificate on arrival — check your destination's requirements, or search by country and we'll confirm.

Doses & schedule

One dose is given at least 10 days before travel for the certificate to be valid. For most people a single dose provides lifelong protection.

The yellow fever vaccine isn't suitable for everyone — for example, some people with weakened immune systems or during pregnancy. Your clinician will check your suitability during a short consultation.

Frequently asked questions

For most travellers, yes — a single dose and certificate are now considered valid for life under international health regulations.
